LEAVING 99

Jesus gives us some in sight on salvation in Luke 15:  ^"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Leaving 99 is our attempt to fulfill this scripture and Jesus' commandment.  It serves as our primary source of outreach.  It's a hands on approach to reaching out to those in need, those that need encouragement, and most importantly it offers a chance to reach out to those that are lost.  It also allows for us to gather in a comfortable setting maximizing the dynamics of a small group. 

Outreach is often times put into a box.  At Overflow we are trying to break out of that box.  We are not only here to reach the lost but we are also called to serve.  Leaving 99 gives us an avenue to do both.  Hope to see you there!
