KNOW JESUS?

Almost everyone I come in contact with claims to know Jesus Christ.  And I think that is awesome!  They know that Jesus was a great man, maybe even a prophet, and that he was born from a virgin mother.  They also know that he grew up here on this earth, that he was a carpenter, that he loved and was loved.  They know that he was betrayed by his friends, who sold him out because of their own insecurities.  And they may even know that he was forced to carry his own cross up a hill to be crucified.

You see, people claim to know Jesus.  But here's the question, "Does Jesus know them?"  The Bible says that a day will come when everyone will stand before God himself and be asked, "Do you know Jesus?"  I would assume that most will answer yes emphatically.  Thinking we have Heaven in the bag, we'll proceed to the entrance but our excitement will be short lived.  Jesus will step forward and say "I'm sorry, but I've never met you."  You see, salvation is not about having a head knowledge.  It's about having a heart knowledge.  Have you asked Jeus Christ to come into your heart and reign supreme in your life?  If you have not but would like to, it's as simple as ABC:

Admitting you are a sinner- The Bible says that everyone has fallen short of God's glory and grace. (Romans 3:23)   That's what grace is- it's getting something, like forgiveness, that we don't deserve.

Believing in Jesus Christ- God loves us so much that He gave the ultimate sacrifice- His only Son.  And if we believe in Him we will recieve eternal life. (John 3:16)

Confessing your sins and asking Jesus into your heart- Confess your sinfulness to God, and turn from it.  Call upon Jesus to save you and trust in Him as your Savior from sin.  This may be a simple but sincere cry from your heart, or it may be expressed out loud. Either way, just do it! (Romans 10:19)

You've just made the most important decison of your life and you may be asking yourself, "Now what?"  I'm glad you asked!  Salvation is about taking steps- steps towards Christ.  Follow up your decision today with these steps:

  1. Tell someone- Please tell someone.  Tell everyone!  Feel free to contact us, we would love to help you in this decision!

  2. Baptism- An outward expression of an inward decision.

  3. Commit- Commit to a church and most of all commit to your relationship with Christ.

  4. Get Plugged In- Immediately volunteer to help at your church and get involved with a small group.
